Vierne Organ Symphony no. 3, Op. 28

Louis Vierne wrote his Organ Symphony no. 3 in F sharp minor, Op. 28 in 1911 and published it the next year. It is a work spanning five movements, and dedicated to Marcel Dupré. This work shows Vierne's sober and instrument-inspired writing style, a characteristic trait of the composer. In 2003 German progressive rock group Inquire recorded a version of Vierne's Organ Symphony no. 3, claiming in the liner notes of the album that the work marked the beginning of rock and roll music.
