Gaetano Donizetti는 롬바르디아주 베르가모 출신의 이탈리아 작곡가였습니다. 그의 가장 잘 알려진 작품은 오페라 L'elisir d'amore(1832), Lucia di Lammermoor(1835), Don Pasquale(1843)이며 모두 이탈리아어로 제작되었으며, 프랑스 오페라 La favorite와 La fille du régiment(모두 1840). 빈첸초 벨리니(Vincenzo Bellini), 조아키노 로시니(Gioachino Rossini)와 함께 벨칸토 오페라의 대표적인 작곡가였다.
